Personal project developed from Social Media Art Challenge

Well known bird-themed illustrator and online content creator ‘Birdhism’ set a 30-day art challenge for September dubbed ‘Septembird’, where a list of varied bird species was given as daily prompts for artists to illustrate and share. Initially I challenged myself to draw all of the prompts quickly and efficiently, giving myself about 10 minutes for each illustration and trying to capture humour and character with simple linework. I then pushed myself further to create full colour animated gifs of each illustration, to see whether I complete this 30 day challenge with animation. The endeavour turned out to be a lot tougher than I had anticipated, so for some birds I had to make the animation a lot more simple, as 30 gifs back to back ended up being a lot of work! I compiled all the finished gifs into a video, viewable below.
